Joseph Frederick Arnold 1910-1955



Joe Arnold was born on December 22nd 1910. He was a civil flying instructor prior to WW2. During the war he served in the RAF as a flying instructor with Transport Command on the North Atlantic service. From 1945-1948 he was manager and C.F.I of the Luton Flying Club and Hunting Flying Club. In 1948 he became a Test Pilot with the Percival company. He was involved in testing the Percival Prentice.Piston Provost and Jet Provost.

On the 17th June 1955 he was killed in a flying accident at Luton, when the Jet Provost he was flying in with Major Mahdi Salih of the Iraqi Air Force crashed during a local flight.
